Introducing Timeline plus a bunch of other improvements to the user interface

Welcome to our second big release for 2021!

We've made some big changes in 2021.2.

From this release onward, we are changing our release timeline to now be approximately every two months. This gives us enough time to work on big features, plus consolidate feedback from our users.

We'd also like to thank our focus group who helped give us feedback on the features for this release! πŸ˜„

Notes for this release

We have removed a few features which do not provide a real business case for our users.

  • Tags have been removed

  • Client Availability has been removed

  • Staff Work Status has been removed

  • Reconciling Payments has now been removed. If you wish to reconcile/unreconcile payments, it must be done via your accounting provider.

We may bring any of these features back in the future if we are able to provide them with functionality to help better-assist your business.

Bug Fixes

  • Inventory may not sync up to an accounting provider if their name was too long (greater than 50 characters)

  • Ability to link to accounting provider when being unsubscribed

  • You can now archive appointments, reports, invoices and clients when being unsubscribed

  • "Take Photo" button on Android would sometimes not work

  • Whitespace before a client surname would allow you to save clients with the same name

  • "PDF is up to date" would not allow you to regenerate a PDF on the fly

  • When moving appointments around on the calendar, an account log would not be added against that appointment

  • Photo date has been removed from generated reports as the dates may not match the actual date the photo was taken on

  • Xero Webhooks have been reenabled to allow Contact / Invoice changes in Xero to propagate in Pest Register.

Miscellaneous Improvements

  • Quickly delete all read notifications via the "Delete All Read Notifications" button at the bottom of the notification dialog

  • Search for forms & filter forms by category when creating new reports

  • Quickly change your staff email addresses via their "Edit" dialog. Once you have changed their email, they will need to verify the new email address before it becomes activated and ready to use.

  • The Profile menu (at the top of navigation sidebar) will now tell you if you have a pending unverified email address

  • Various tables within the system now display categorisation (such as alphabetically) to help you quickly find items you're looking for

  • In System Defaults > Calendar, you can now turn off prefilling the appointment description onto your invoice description

  • Many small improvements to the interface for making things clearer to identify and easier to read

  • On iPad/tablet, dialogs can now fit more details onto the screen at once (such as client and appointment dialogs)

  • Client and Appointment Wizards now let you quickly add a note against that client/appointment instead of having to click on "More Options"

  • Quickly click "Unsubscribe" within any emails we send to your account if you do not wish to receive those emails anymore

  • The Select File dialog now fits in a lot more files at once and will order files by date.

Timeline

The big new feature for this release is Timeline!

Timeline replaces the existing separate tabs for Notes, Files, Reports, Invoices, Appointments, Communication Logs and Activity Logs, and instead places all this information into the one tab on a chronological timeline.

This makes it much much easier to view service history and better manage your clients.

The Timeline has also been added to the Client Group, Appointment, Report & Invoice Dialogs.

Here's a rundown of the new features that Timeline brings:

  1. Client Collation: On the Client Timeline, it will collate together all notes and communication logs from any of the client's appointments, invoices and reports

  2. Recurring Rule Collation: On the Appointment Timeline, it will display the service history for any previous appointments within the same recurring rule (notes, invoices and reports).

  3. View Sent Emails/SMSes: You can now view messages which were sent off to a client via the Timeline. This includes either the email, or the SMS details (depending on the type of message).

  4. Edit Notes (horray!): You can now edit any notes that you create.

  5. Customisable Notes (horray x2!): You can now customise your notes in much greater detail, including multiple paragraphs, colours, heading and bullet points.

  6. Pin Notes & Attachments: You can now pin any notes and attachments. These pinned items will always appear at the top of your Timeline.

  7. Search: You can quickly search over the entires on a Timeline in the Timeline sidebar. This includes toggling any of the categories of information (for example, only show Notes and hide all other data).

  8. Quickly View Notes & Files: Notes and Files can now be displayed via the "Details" tab of most dialogs. This means that you only need to visit the main Timeline tab if you're looking for more detailed/granular information.

  9. Keyboard shortcuts: A few keyboard shortcuts now exist to quickly toggle the categories on the Timeline

New Interface for Report dialog

The Report dialog has been refined to make it much easier to find details.

All the main action buttons have been moved to the top of the dialog, alongside the existing "Clone" button.

The Invoice dialog has also been refined to make it much easier to find details.

All the main action buttons have been moved to the top of the dialog.

The "Card Payment" and "Manual Payment" buttons have been merged together into a single "Take Payment" button.

Tips

As a new (or existing) user, we've made it easier to learn how certain things work within the system.

Tips are dismissable banners which have been added which help you learn how to perform certain tasks (or learn a new trick), such as adding bank account details to invoices, adding forms to your company form collection or understanding keyboard shortcuts on the timeline!

Data Reset

If you were trialing the system with some fake data, or you have decided that you no longer want to use Pest Register, you may now completely reset your company data by going to Company Details > Reset Data tab.

This will allow you to permanently delete all your data. This action is irreversible, so once you perform a reset, we cannot retrieve any of it.

A data reset can only be actioned by the user who first signed up to Pest Register within your company.
