What is the Timeline?

Learn how the Timeline works

Updated over a week ago

The Timeline acts as a hub for any related information for a specific item that you're looking at.

Understanding the Timeline

The Timeline is split into three different sections:

  • Top Bar: Buttons for creating new notes or attaching files

  • Right-hand sidebar: categories and filtering over the available data

  • Main area: where the entries will be displayed

Categories

Categories are displayed at the top of the right-hand sidebar.

They represent the amount of data which is currently visible on the timeline.

Clicking on a category tile will select/unselect it. This will hide any of that category's data from the main area.

Keyboard Shortcuts:

  • if you want to quickly unselect a bunch of tiles at once, hold down ALT (Windows) / OPTION (MacOS) and click on a tile.

  • If you want to re-select all tiles, hold down SHIFT and click on any of the tiles.

Searching / Filters

You may also search over the entries using the filters which are available in the sidebar.

  • Search Box: find a particular keyword in any of the Timeline entries

  • Show Collated Entries: If collated data is available, this checkbox will let you hide these pieces of data. Collated entries are indirectly related to the current item that you're looking at.

For example, a collated entry could be an appointment note for an upcoming appointment for this client.

  • Date Range: Only show entries which are between two dates. Dates which contain entries will show a small green circle underneath it's date.

Entries

Clicking on Timeline entries will either open the related item's dialog, or open a popup menu with actions.

For example, clicking on a Note will show options to copy, edit, pin/unpin or delete the note.

For example, clicking on a Communication log will allow you to view the sent message, or see whether the receiver has opened the message yet.

Collated Entries

Collated Entries are highlighted on the Timeline to help you know that the entry is indirectly related to the current item that you're looking at.

Clicking on the collated entry will let you see where the entry came from.

For example, this Appointment Communication is visible in the Client's Timeline, but comes from a Treatment for Spiders, Cockroaches and Ants appointment.
